There is a Light That Never Goes Out (live) :: Pete Yorn

Some days I don’t know what to say about any of it. Brush it off and look away, chalk it up to another indecision, another bad decision, or a detour that went nowhere fast. It was a case of the right place at the wrong time, and you knew it as much as I did. Still, those late mornings with the sun already so hot in the sky above, the way we talked then, the way we shared silences, it could have been something more.

The bus was already half-loaded, three packs of guitar strings in your hand, and all I could say to you was “see you around.” You pressed the key into the palm of my hand, whispered words I never repeated to anyone, and kissed me. Your hair was a mess of curls, wild and unruly. It was one of your flaws, you had confessed the day we met. But I would disagree. Even now, paging through photographs, it is one of the things about you I miss.

We crashed head on into each other once. I still wear the scars from the impact. There was music though, and that last night together, you are wrong to think that I don’t remember.
