My Weekly Top 10 :: The Week of 2/24

My Top 10 :: Week of 2/24/14 1. Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell I have fallen in love with this book. Seriously, I am so emotionally connected with these characters that I feel my chest tighten up, painfully so at times, when certain things happen, feel my eyes well up in tears at other times, and my heart feels near to bursting at times, too. I worry about the ending, about the characters, about moments and words and things with Eleanor’s family, and I worry about the book being over too soon. 2. Men At Work While putting together … Continue reading My Weekly Top 10 :: The Week of 2/24

Kat Robichaud :: Keep Art Alive :: 10 Questions Project

Keep Art Alive :: Photo by Curtis Brown Photography Keep Art Alive :: The 10 Questions Project :: Featuring Kat Robichaud 1. What music (or other art form) inspires you when you create your art? Different things, depending on what I need. Currently I’ve been listening to ELO and Marilyn Manson’s “Mechanical Animals” because I’m looking for inspiration for a song about online voyeurism, and I want the instrumentation to have a computerized electronic sound. It’s good to have examples of what you like when you’re in the studio and you need to quickly communicate your vision. 2. Long distance road … Continue reading Kat Robichaud :: Keep Art Alive :: 10 Questions Project

Love was ours :: SOTD

Keep Art Alive :: Art by Christian Schloe “She wore blue velvet, bluer than velvet was the night, softer than satin was the light, from the stars.” The end of February came without consequence, without significance, without the reverence that Laney felt it should possess. It was a Leap Year, like that year had been. That year. Was that why she had disappeared that day, Laney wondered, because it was a disappearing day itself? Jack sauntered into the kitchen, red eyed and slack jawed from the just awake haze that still lingered on both of them. She knew he had been … Continue reading Love was ours :: SOTD

I think I’ll kick it down the street :: SOTD

“Broken windows and empty hallways, a pale lit moon in a sky streaked with grey. Human kindness is overflowing, and I think it’s gonna rain today.” Ever since I can remember, as far back as recollected memory can span, I have loved the rain. A part of me comes alive when the clouds begin to cluster and darken, a release that ignites when the sky opens up, as if I have been holding so much inside me, tightly, wound and twisted up, and then the heavens begin to cry and I can cry, too, or laugh, or scream, or shout. … Continue reading I think I’ll kick it down the street :: SOTD

My Top 300 Movies :: 141-145

141. Foxfire There are moments in this movie where I find myself wishing I had had this group of girls as my friends back when I was an adolescent, their spirit, their strength, and the options they find, I wish I’d had some of them. There is sadness, too, and that mystery that falling for the perception you have of someone can bring, and the inevitable fall when the perception cracks with the weight of reality. Fun to spot a young, pre-Rilo Kiley Jenny Lewis, too, though it is a young Angelina Jolie that stands out in an unforgettable way. Legs … Continue reading My Top 300 Movies :: 141-145
