Keep Art Alive :: The 10 Questions Project :: Featuring Callaghan

1. What music (or other art form) inspires you when you create your art?

I’m inspired by lots of different music, depending on what mood I’m in. I’d have to say that Queen and Freddie Mercury live in concert would be hard to beat for inspiration!

2. Long distance road trip: what three people do you invite along (fictional or non-fictional, dead or alive)?

I tend to sleep all the time on long road trips so I think I’d be terrible company! I’d like to bring along Bill Bryson to narrate the journey in an entertaining way, Buddy Holly to write some songs with, and Nigella Lawson to cook some delicious food for us each time we stop.

3. What is your favorite breakfast cereal?

Oatmeal is what I think I should eat, but Cocoa Pops is what I want to eat.

4. What is one thing that is hanging on your bedroom wall?

A giant poster of an Italian drink advertisement with a chimpanzee having a cocktail.

5. What smell/scent evokes strong memories for you?

Geraniums. My granddad grew a lot of them and they remind me of spending time with him.

6. Coffee or tea?

Tea. Hot with milk, and with biscuits (cookies) to dunk in it!

7. What has been the most impactful compliment, or criticism, you have ever received?

When I messaged Shawn Mullins through Myspace and he replied telling me he liked my songs and wanted to work together. That email literally changed my life and led to me moving to America to record my debut album, “Life in Full Colour.”

8. Three words that describe you?

Determined, sensitive, passionate

9. What is/was your cartoon character crush?

I never had a crush on a cartoon character but I did have a pretty big crush on Dean Cain as Superman.

10. The world is ending in ten minutes and you get to listen to one, and only one, song: Which song?

Elton John – Rocket Man

You can like her on Facebook and give her a listening whirl at YouTube, as well.

Callaghan is going on a “house tour” that she is calling “Callaghan Across America”, catch her if she makes it to your town and experience an emerging new way to see live music, taking the venue right into someone’s living room.

Her upcoming tour dates can be found here.

I would like to thank Callaghan for participating in the Keep Art Alive: Ten Questions Project, and for creating such a beautiful album that has been spun quite a bit, and whose songs have been slipped into playlists, by me, and has also help inspire some of my art – my writing – as of late.
Go now go and check out more of her work, listen to her album, check for shows, and buy something if you can. Keep art alive and show your support, always.
