Kate Nash :: Girl Talk :: New Music Review

Kate Nash :: Girl Talk Back in November I reviewed the pre-album EP of Kate Nash’s titled Death Proof (see here). I loved the EP and was anxiously awaiting the full album, Girl Talk, which came out today. Although there are songs I absolutely love on this album, including the ones I was already hopelessly devoted to from the EP, the album on a whole feels disjointed, and unfortunately, disappointing. Keep Art Alive :: Art by Joshua Petker Boots of Spanish Leather :: The Airborne Toxic Event “Oh, but if I had the stars from the darkest night, and the diamonds from the deepest ocean, I’d forsake them all for your sweet kiss, For that’s all I’m wishin’ to be ownin’.” There is freedom in being free, and the times between jagged phone conversations and mis-matched time zones, they can all go to sleep now. I started thinking about Bob Dylan, and starting spinning some of his music while I worked on some writing, and got to thinking not about who I would say is “the next Bob Dylan” (because honestly I hate that kind of comparison, and try – though not always successfully – to not do that kind of thing when … Continue reading Top five Tuesday :: Wondering if she’d changed at all

You don’t deserve to be lonely :: song of the day

I could make you smile, if you stayed a while, but how long will you stay with me, baby?” Hazy (by me) This room, in the shadowy corners of my mind, dimly lit, soothing colors, thoughts. I see you there, tangled in the flannel sheets, your hair a mess, peeking out at me, a long and lazy Sunday lies open, for the taking. I want to slink, into the unconscious, of desire, let the shades melt, into me, bleeding, blending. Our hair braiding into each other, … Continue reading You don’t deserve to be lonely :: song of the day
