I feel the sun on my back :: Songs and poetry

All lines are erased, or just set to blur, fake glass over expired eyes, pulled through the begin. Schemes written on flesh, permanent marker stained, once held the same bedsheets, whispered anticipated resolve. Tissue paper pleading, all spun up in circles, the notes hinged on forgiveness, two sets of feet leaving. One piece holds tight, opens arms up to slung arrows, the other stumbles hard, breaking melody and mercury. Once it was electricity, sizzled through beats and pulse, now it bestows sharp judgements, everyone choose a side. Two can only map these borders, pushing in the same directions, or at … Continue reading I feel the sun on my back :: Songs and poetry

But time makes you bolder :: Under the covers

Landslide :: Antony Hegarty What a gorgeous cover of Landslide; I am in musical awe. I have always loved this song, and I have always loved Antony’s voice, so much. “Oh, mirror in the sky what is love? Can the child within my heart rise above? Can I sail thru the changing ocean tides? Can I handle the seasons of my life?“ Continue reading But time makes you bolder :: Under the covers

The Skyline shines :: Songs and prose

The city never gave us much of a chance, and neither did I, I suppose, too many broken pieces that were not yet glued together, too many expectations, and too small of space to allow for us to settle in with each other Perhaps I am peering into this part of the story because for a good long time I pretended to erase the memories, most of the time I am Clementine, but other times I try to recall that perhaps I was once like Lisa to Matthew, or Trixie to Jacob Grace,  until I screwed it up as I … Continue reading The Skyline shines :: Songs and prose

I can’t help it if you might think I am odd :: Songs and Poetry

The Way You Choose To Write It (by me) The two of us crossed the bridge that early morning; arm in arm, cheek to cheek, our hair tangling into each others. We had to hold each other up to keep walking, too many chemicals spinning in our heads, and the music still ringing over and over in our ears. maybe we should have been in bed, for one reason or another, but here we were, together. You were my catastrophe, my derring-do, my grand rebellion a few years late. and what was I to you? Just another girl tied to … Continue reading I can’t help it if you might think I am odd :: Songs and Poetry

Love in these modern times :: Soundtrack Shout Out Wednesday

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang :: Soundtrack Shout Out Although this is more of a holiday film, there are still songs in the soundtrack that I love all-year round. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is forever on my list of favorite films, a movie that has so many things I love – humor, flawed and wonderful characters, a real romance, friendship, emotion and vulnerability, and damn good writing – it is also one of my favorite “Los Angeles” movies (stay tuned, that may be March’s Movie Moment Theme!). Oh, and the movie also stars Robert Downey, Jr., an actor who has had … Continue reading Love in these modern times :: Soundtrack Shout Out Wednesday

Time won’t give me time :: video of the day

Time (Clock of the Heart) :: Culture Club The hardest part of losing someone and learning to let go are the little reminders, and the habits you have to break. The fact that you will still hear things, see things, experience things that you will want to share with the lost, and realizing that you cannot anymore. That the phone calls, and in-between conversations are all in the past. It is okay to be hurt and angry, and it is okay to curse expletives into the ether, and it is alright to have days when you forget, and days when … Continue reading Time won’t give me time :: video of the day

Sometimes when this place gets kind of empty :: song of the day

Keep Art Alive :: “Me Tea” :: Art by Timothy Karpinski Grades were my glue that held my pieces together, but they began to taste stale. they were ever too easy to come by, and not much of a prize to bring home (not that I ever wanted to bring anything, or anyone, home) So, I hovered over your spirit. I caught it in breaths and syllables when we met in hallways, and under bleachers. I was drunk on you. you let me in through a side door, showed me glimpses, all those kaleidoscope images you reflected off, and onto … Continue reading Sometimes when this place gets kind of empty :: song of the day
