1. What music (or other art form) inspires you when you create your art?

Can coffee making be considered an art? That’s where it all starts for me. Silence and a hippie speedball.  I prefer to write in the morning.

2. Long distance road trip: what three people do you invite along (fictional or non-fictional, dead or alive)?

Kurt Sutter (Sons of Anarchy creator), Han Solo, and Bill Maher.

3. What is your favorite breakfast cereal?

Not a cereal guy.

4. What is one thing that is hanging on your bedroom wall?

Photo of Frank Sinatra standing under a sign that says “Divorce your loved one with Dignity.” Hangs above our bed.

5. What smell/scent evokes strong memories for you?

Bacon, but you have to wake up to it, otherwise, you’re just cooking bacon. But the smell of waking up to bacon, that’s the business.

6. Coffee or tea?

Coffeeeeeeeee!

7. What has been the most impactful compliment, or criticism, you have ever received?

I was 5. I overheard my teacher tell my parents I should be a singer and that I had perfect pitch.

8. Three words that describe you?

Rebound Ninja lover.

9. What is/was your cartoon character crush?

Ariel had me at hello.

10. The world is ending in ten minutes and you get to listen to one, and only one, song: Which song?

Baby by Justin Bieber (I know, Baby sucks. but it’s also makes my family dance like bobbleheads.  And end of the world we gon’ be partying.)

I had the priviledge to not only see Justin Hopkins on last season’s The Voice, but to catch his set as an opener to Tony Lucca’s Chapter 2 tour earlier this month. Justin is crazy talented and I was thrilled when he agreed to participate in the 10 questions project, even if he wants the world to fade into oblivion while Justin Bieber sings us out (editor’s note: Justin assures that he would personally want to hear Pearl Jam’s Alive as the earth ended, a song I hope he covers someday – hint, hint).

Seriously though, I would like to thank Justin for participating in the Keep Art Alive: 10 Questions Project, and for sharing his musical talents with all of us. I look forward to his next musical endeavors and upcoming releases, and hope he comes back to Los Angeles to do another gig soon!
